Tautliner and curtainsider serve as general terms for curtain-sided trucks and trailers. The Tautliner is a trademark of commercial vehicles manufactured by Boalloy in Congleton, Cheshire, England. The curtains are securely attached to a runner at the top and are fixed to detachable rails or poles at both the front and rear, enabling the curtains to slide open. This design allows forklifts to access the sides effortlessly for efficient loading and unloading. When secured for travel, vertical load restraint straps connect the truck bed and curtains along both sides, with winches at each end providing tension to prevent flapping or drumming caused by wind, which inspired the name 'Tautliner'. This mechanism also aids in keeping lighter loads from shifting sideways.

Curtains can carry a load of specified weight per meter, provided that the load is positioned adequately close to the curtain.

The concept was patented, and its popularity grew largely due to its adoption by the haulier Eddie Stobart.
